Businesses are vital contributors to the development of more resilient and safer communities. The Roundtable aims to support greater understanding and resolve among businesses of their role in supporting preparedness in the community. Below are some of the industry groups which take a proactive stance and provide resources on this challenge. 

The Insurance Council of Australia is the representative body of the general insurance industry in Australia.

The Property Council of Australia is the leading advocate for Australia’s $600 billion property industry. Its members include the bulk of the nation’s major investors, property owners and developers.

The Business Council of Australia is an association of the CEOs of 100 of Australia’s leading corporations with a combined workforce of one million people. It was established as a forum for Australia’s business leaders to contribute to public policy debates to build Australia as the best place in which to live, to learn, to work and do business.

The Australian Building Codes Board addresses issues relating to safety, health, amenity and sustainability in the design and performance of buildings through the National Construction Code Series, and the development of effective regulatory systems and appropriate non-regulatory solutions.

The National Sea Change Taskforce has been established as a national body to represent the interests of coastal councils and communities experiencing the effects of rapid growth and development.

Planning Institute of Australia is the national body representing planning and the planning profession. Through education, communication and professional development, it is the pivotal organisation serving and guiding thousands of planning professionals in their role of creating better communities.

The Real Estate Institute of Australia is the national association for Australia’s real estate profession.

The Australian Bankers’ Association works with its members to provide analysis, advice and advocacy and contributes to the development of public policy on banking and other financial services.
